Session Border Controler (SBC)

Session Border Controllers in IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem)-based networks are border devices providing critical functions for border security, service encapsulation and service assurance. They ensure a certain quality of service (QoS), shield and protect the IMS and may provide regulatory support (e.g. for Lawful Interception).

The WINGCON Session Border Controller (SBC) is a modular IMS SBC targeted for mission-critical networks and tailored for railways. It provides secure IMS functionality between an IMS core and an edge network. It can act as an Access Session Border Controller (A-SBC), an Interconnect Session Border Controller (I-SBC), a stand-alone Proxy Call Session Control Function (P-CSCF) or all three.

The SBC has been designed with FRMCS (Future Railway Mobile Communication System) in mind. It can process both signalling and media handling from Mission Critical Communications (MCx) and normal IMS solutions. In combination with the WINGCON BBRC recording system, IMS and MCx recording via SIP-REC (Session Initiation Protocol Recording) interface is straightforward and comprehensive. The BBRC is also perfect for presenting the results of the online voice quality measurements, an optional part of the SBC.
